Project Overview.

This scheme is constructed in three phases and comprises a new vehicle workshop (Building WIO612), the demolition of Buildings BXH657 and BXH660, followed by subsequent hard-standing works.

About the Project.

Prior to commencement of the works, the existing paviours were lifted, and the cut and fill exercise commenced. At the same time, we set out an area for our accommodation to be sited, with this area in the same surface as the vehicle service yard, allowing the units to remain in place until project completion.

With the site set-up concluded, Brymor set out the building and commenced construction of the new vehicle workshop. The work consists of a steel frame on reinforced concrete foundations, a ground bearing slab incorporating underfloor heating / dry shake power float finish and composite roof sheeting with roof lights. Fans are also installed in the roof to ventilate the workshop area.

The ground floor provides two service pits supplied and fitted by an approved specialist installer. The workshop has two mezzanine floors at either end of metal deck and concrete, topped with screed incorporating under floor heating. At ceiling level of the first-floor offices, a timber joist and ply decking roof complete the structure.

External walls are of brick cavity construction with an internal skin of 140mm blocks and vertical cladding above the vehicle entrance doors. Internal walls are constructed off the ground and first floor slabs using 140mm concrete blocks.

Internal finishes include painted fair faced block / plaster walls, ceramic tiling to showers and toilets, suspended ceilings in varying locations, vinyl floor coverings and metal internal staircases with powder coated balustrades and handrails.

Mechanical and electrical services are installed within the offices and workshop areas of the vehicle workshop. These are fed from the new plant and electrical intake rooms.

External works include a new concrete service yard and fenced waste compound, the installation of waste and oil coolant tanks together with protection barriers and bollards. Roller vehicles doors are also protected by steel bollards placed adjacent to door openings.

The provision of tree pits completes the development with landscaping undertaken by others.
