I started with Brymor in August 2018 having left school a couple of months previously. Understandably, at age 16, I did not have an exact Idea of what I wanted to do when I left school, but I knew I wanted to get an apprenticeship in the construction industry. My original thought was to get a trade under my belt before an opportunity at Brymor presented itself.

I was taken on under the title of a Construction Apprentice which allowed me to move around the different Departments within the business. This was a great opportunity for me as it allowed me to learn about all the different aspects of the business and gain a lot of valuable knowledge and skills which will help me in the long term.

As part of my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to study one day a week at college to gain valuable qualifications, and these will assist with my future career progression. I have enjoyed my time so far here at Brymor and I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given as a school leaver and I would encourage anyone thinking of going down the apprenticeship route to do so.

I joined Brymor in September 2022 after studying construction a couple of years prior. I have always had a passion about the construction industry and believed this was a great first step towards my career goals. I was presented with an amazing offer from Brymor that I just couldn’t refuse.

Joining the team as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, I have been placed on site allowing me to learn with on-the-job experience, which is a totally new experience to me. I think this is a great way to learn as it allows me to be more proactive within my role, keeps me motivated, and will increase my confidence within the workplace.

Brymor have been great working with my college schedule which allows me to study one day a week. I have been given the opportunity to gain the relevant qualifications whilst working within the industry, allowing me to get hands-on training and the chance to put my skills into practise.

In my opinion an apprenticeship is a great route to take.
