The design and construction of a new multiuse teaching facility, known as the Innovation Centre on the site of the former 1960’s Kennet Building.
It is cited on a brownfield site within Marlborough College’s western campus boundary, directly adjacent to a Local Authority water way and the Grade II listed historic park and gardens.
The two-storey centre incorporates a selection of laboratories, preparatory rooms, teaching / break out spaces, an office, a workshop, storage rooms, WC facilities, plant rooms and a passenger lift.
Construction comprises of CHD piled foundations, a concrete frame and slab from ground to first floor and a steel frame from first floor to the roof.
The envelope consists of brick and block elevations to the ground floor, a steel framing system infill to the first floor, aluminium insulated cladding to the walls / roof and Velfac windows throughout.
Internally, the building services, internal finishes and fit-out are commensurate with an educational laboratory / teaching environment.
External works includes hard and soft landscaping around the finished building.
