The conversion of a steel framed three-storey office block into 53 apartments including the removal of two concrete staircases, the installation of structural steel where new openings are formed in the structural floors and forming an additional floor within the pitched roof.
Most of the strip out works were complete prior to the commencement of the main works, the two lifts remained in place and there were minor works required to the existing basement level that is used for car parking.
All windows are being replaced with new composite windows and the curtain walling to the entrance remains untouched.
A new flat roof will be constructed on top of the existing pitched roof to give an adequate ceiling height for residents from which electric roof lights and sun pipes will be installed.
The new one and two-bedroom apartments will all have electrical heating and a sprinkler system installed.
Externally, a new cycle store, side entrance and a ramp to the rear will be constructed.
Finally, a new electric main and water main is incorporated within the contract.
