PROJECT: Refurbishment of Officers Mess

Value: £1,568,000

Client: Aspire Defence Ltd

Works entailed the complete refurbishment of a 1920’s building at Bulford to create officers’ accommodation and mess facilities. This included bedrooms with en-suite facilities, dining, lounge and bar facilities as well as a full industrial kitchen.

Works were completed in June 2010 to a very high standard in a period of 52 weeks.

PROJECT: Construction of new Family Centre, Warminster

Value: £1,652,000

Client: Aspire Defence Ltd

As part of the MoD’s ongoing programme to improve facilities, we constructed a new Family Centre within the residential estate at Warminster. The centre provides community facilities including spaces for local group activities and playgroups.

Brymor’s site manager was awarded a Considerate Constructors Award for ‘Performance Beyond Compliance’ for his work there and the excellent coordination and liaison with residents, neighbours and the centre management.

PROJECT: New Build Community Centre, Aldershot

Value: £1,723,000

These works consisted of the construction of a new, steel-framed, two storey community centres in Aldershot for Aspire Defence. The scheme also involved various external works including the construction of a new car park outside the perimeter of the site.

Brymor was employed as a sub-contractor to the principal contractor Aspire who had the overall responsibility for the design.

PROJECT: HQ Offices, Tidworth

Design & Build Refurbishment of a Grade II Listed Building

Value: £1,878,858

Project Allenby / Connaught, the largest infrastructure Private Finance Initiative Project ever led by the Ministry of Defence, has one simple mission – to make life better for nearly 19,000 soldiers (20% of the British Army) by providing modern, high quality, fully serviced, purpose-built living and working accommodation.

Aspire Defence, a Joint Venture between Carillion and KBR, is delivering this strategically important task through a fully integrated partnership and detailed planning to meet the significant logistical challenge involved.

As part of this 35 year contract which encompasses an 8 year construction programme, Brymor are proud to have undertaken the complete refurbishment of a grade II listed building under the contract we have with Aspire Defence. The project involved a full internal strip out to enable change of use from accommodation to HQ Offices for 43 (Wessex) Brigade and 1 Mechanised Brigade and Signal Squadron (215). The scheme also involved major external refurbishment and substantial works to the balcony, stairs and store blocks. In addition to these works, disabled access was provided to approximately half of the building on the ground and first floor levels by means of a series of permanent and lightweight portable access ramps.

Project Allenby / Connaught is reversing years of under investment in the Army’s estates and three years into the operation it is already bringing significant tangible improvements in the quality of life at the garrisons across Aldershot and Salisbury Plain. These improvements are one of the factors to aide the Army’s recruitment and retention of high quality soldiers and Brymor are proud to be undertaking numerous schemes in partnership with Aspire Defence to help achieve this goal.

Project: Refurbishment of Officers Mess, Perham Down

Value: £2,243,000

Client: Aspire Defence Ltd

This project comprised the refurbishment of a run-down listed building to create an extremely high standard officers mess.

Following asbestos removal, the building was re-roofed and new windows were installed. The inside was then completely refurbished including en-suite bedrooms, communal areas such as lounge, dining and bar plus facilities for managing and running the building including offices, stores and an industrial kitchen.

Works were completed to programme and to the satisfaction of the MoD team.
