This project totalled £1,600,000 and consisted of the New Build of a Cardiac Extension. This extension was constructed on top of the existing fracture clinic which was situated on the 3rd level of the hospital.

Accident & Emergency Modular Extension

This particular scheme encompassed the construction of a single storey extension to the Accident and Emergency Department within Frimley Park Hospital. The purpose of the extension was to provide a 7 bed bay accident and emergency observation ward. The works also included all associated ancillary ablutions and nursing areas.

The overall project duration from the receipt of our tender documentation to practical completion was 19 weeks. Following deliberation of tenders and being awarded the project Brymor were left with 16 weeks, which we fine tuned into three distinct phases:

  1. Design Development and Resource Procurement – 5 weeks
  2. Modular Building lead in and on site enabling works – 6 weeks
  3. Modular Building delivery/install and site fit-out – 5 weeks

The construction method on this project was approached in a modular fashion in order to meet exceptionally tight timescales and to ensure a high quality level of factory finish. In acknowledge to the aforementioned factors and with our vast experience of NHS contracting we were able to resource the most suitably qualified design consultants and construction team.

Refurbishment of D & E Levels

The project consisted of the complete refurbishment of the existing units to provide new Operating Theatres and High Care Dependency Units at Southampton General Hospital. Careful planning was required due to its location being surrounded by existing live theatres and a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit on the floor directly below. Noise was a very sensitive and serious issue and the control of dust was paramount.

The project also included 4th floor external wall cladding and installation of larger windows throughout.

This high-tech refurbishment scheme valued £6,000,000 in total.

Pharmacy Robotics

This project, like all of the schemes undertaken within a live hospital environment, was extremely complex and required careful planning and organisational skills from our experienced technical team. In order for the project to be a success, various aspects needed to be taken into consideration in order to achieve a high standard of finish whilst taking into account the needs of staff, patients and the general public.

The most important request was for the existing Pharmacy to remain active throughout the construction process which required Brymor’s management team to operate a multiple phased programme to incorporate this request. The programme was successfully drawn up and achieved by the management team.

The project was handed over to Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust on time and the experienced healthcare team managed to deliver all aspects of the project including overseeing the installation of the ARX Robotic Machine.

Brymor successfully carried out all aspects of the high-tech refurbishment scheme right through to the installation of medical gases and specialist equipment.
