Project Overview.

This project was the construction of a New Women’s Health unit which combined oncology, haematology, gynaecology, breast care and early pregnancy in two units. This facility is one of the first of its kind in the country and represents a step change in providing treatment of this nature.

About the project.

This was a challenging project for the team; building a new clinical building in a relatively small space within the busy hospital site. As well as achieving a very high standard of specification, the team had to deal with the logistics of existing services and facilitating safe access to hospital staff, patients, deliveries and emergency vehicles.

Our local community involvement extended to supporting and sponsoring The Jigsaw Twilight Walk for Women, which was held on the 9th June 2014 on Bournemouth Seafront. We were the official sponsor for the event and are proud to report that the event saw the most funds raised to date. The money raised went towards buying equipment for the new Jigsaw building at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

We also carried out a survey of push bike users and their interaction with other traffic. As a result of this we found that bike users were particularly concerned that the interaction with electric car users was not good, the particular problem being the quietness of the cars. As a result we introduced signs around our compound area alerting car users of this potential danger.
